Philosophy

Bodymax Physical Therapy and Sports Training is the Bay Area’s authority in sports performance training. Our mission is to provide each individual athlete with all of the necessary physical and mental tools they require to perform at peak levels during the most critical times during their sports year. To do this, we employ a comprehensive, unique and scientifically proven approach to developing athletic success that starts with a thorough performance evaluation, which consists of various flexibility, functional movement, strength, power and performance testing procedures only found at Bodymax because we know there is far more to developing and insuring continued athletic success than just running and jumping.

The Evaluations

All enrolled athletes are required to complete a standardized pre- and post-program evaluation. The results will then be entered into the Frappier Acceleration® Athlete Information Management System, which is a world-wide database full of athlete performance and demographic testing information. This information is accessible via the internet with a username and password which is provided to the athlete at the pre-program evaluation conference with the Sports Training Director.

Once the athlete’s testing results are entered into the AIMS system, our performance staff carefully analyzes and cross-examines them with their sport(s), position(s), and against their peer’s to help determine the primary limitations and needs of the individual to insure peak performance throughout the sports year. Our staff of exercise physiologists and licensed physical therapists then designs a scientifically tailored program for each athlete that utilizes the unique and state of the art training technologies only found at Bodymax.

Communication is vital to developing athletic success and at Bodymax we insure that the communication lines are left open by dedicating time to discuss evaluation results and training with all athletes and parents through conferences with the Sports Training Director and performance coaches at the beginning, end and throughout the duration of their programs. The final step involved with improving each athlete is accomplished through education. This education begins by individually reviewing each athlete’s evaluation with them to ensure that they fully understand why and how their program will produce the results they seek to improve their athletic performance. At this time, athletes will also be instructed on proper nutrition, meal planning and supplementation for maximum workout intensity and for optimal workout recovery to ensure they get the most out of each workout and fully recover in time for the next one.

Conferences

The final step involved with improving each athlete is accomplished through education. This education begins by individually reviewing each athlete’s evaluation with them to ensure that they fully understand why and how their program will produce the results they seek to improve their athletic performance. At this time, athletes will also be instructed on proper nutrition, meal planning and supplementation for maximum workout intensity and for optimal workout recovery to ensure they get the most out of each workout and fully recover in time for the next one.

  • Each athlete will receive a conference at the beginning of the program with the Sports Training Director to review the pre-program evaluation results and go over the impending training program.
  • Parents and athletes are encouraged to schedule two monthly meetings with the Sports Training Director or their performance coach to update them on their progress and future training plans.
  • Each athlete will receive an ending conference with the Sports Training Director to summarize the post-program evaluation results.
